The work analyzes the debate on the Brazilian agrarian question in the
works of Ignácio Rangel and Milton Santos, seeking to establish a dialogue between
the analyzes and categories of these authors with the process of constitution of the
Brazilian Agroindustrial Complex and of the Brazilian Cerrado as a productive
region of agribusiness. In the second half of the 20th century, this biome was
integrated into the regional division of labor and incorporated into Brazilian
capitalism, which raised the Brazilian agrarian issue to a new level. The objective here is, from the analytical categories of the authors, to discuss the constitution and
development of capitalist agriculture in the Cerrado agricultural frontier, surveying
its main characteristics and socioeconomic and spatial impacts. For that, a survey
of the main writings referring to the agrarian question in the work of the authors
will be carried out, the comparison and the summary of the main ideas, for then
its application to the agricultural border case of the Cerrado.
