Público e privado: as políticas e os planejamentos da Secretaria de Agricultura, Comércio e Obras Públicas em relação à Sorocabana Railway Company

Abstract

In early First Republic age, the Secretaria de Agricultura, Comércio e Obras Públicas developed proposals to coordinate the railroads and their expansion through São Paulo west in favor of the settlement and economical boost. The Sorocabana Railway Company will be lease by a businessmen group, to meet some needs and planning to São Paulo government. However, many changes occurred and the enterprise goes back to the public administration. Considering all this, our research goal is, first of all, to analyze the governmental proposals and guidelines, through the Secretaria de Agricultura, about the railways. Second, we expect to comprise the relationship of the Sorocabana Railway Company with such guidelines.
